We wanted a name that had Persian roots, but was also international, easy to pronounce, and contemporary sounding. Dara was a name we had both long liked, and was easily our first and only choice. We kept the name a secret from everyone; many family members tried to guess but no one got even close. Prior to birth, Dara was affectionaly referred to by everyone as Bambino.
